Many of you know Foxwoods Resort and Casino as a casino. Well, certainly it is, but it is an amazing resort as well.
My husband has gone there for years to play in card tournaments, I’ve tagged along a couple times myself too-at the casino. Recently though, we discovered there was so much more there. My husband and I went on a mini getaway and I fell in love with this place. There’s so much to do as a couple-there are indoor pools for over 21, shows, night clubs, gourmet restaurants, spas, shopping and more. Our trip was first class and my husband was going to hear me ask when we could go back, quite often! 🙂
This summer we’ve been taking some little mini getaways instead of the week or two vacation all at once. One trip I planned was a family Foxwoods trip. I had a feeling there was going to be enough to keep everyone busy, and it turns out there was so much keeping us busy that we didn’t even get to do everything I had set out to do with the family!
We stayed in the Fox Tower Hotel. There are four hotels on site, but this one had the outdoor pool. The Concierge is so attentive. If you have a special occasion, let them know. They can help you set up a nice surprise for your loved ones. They’re there to help you plan your trip at the resort and around the area as well.
We loved our welcome message in our windows when we walked into the room. The kids got a kick out of it! They also found a huge tray of cookies, milk, popcorn and candy too! Camden, my 11 year old, announced Foxwoods was his favorite hotel!
We spent the entire afternoon at the pool. Junior’ s Restaurant is right off the pool and they have waitresses come along to take your order. The food here is very good. We had a fun day! The kids also got a bonus that day when they saw the their favorite jokesters, from the show Impractical Jokers. At the end of the day they got to get their picture taken with them. You just never know who you’ll see when you’re at Foxwoods Resort and Casino!
Our day could have ended then with smiles on everyone’s faces, but it wasn’t over yet. We made our way to the Theater to see the Legends perform.
It was a super show and I swear I was looking right at the real Michael Jackson. They were great impressionists.
Though it’s late at night, you feel the energy all around. The band is playing in center court, the restaurants are all open. Who wants to go to bed? I say, head to Hard Rock Cafe for more fun and food! You’re on vacation.
Everyone slept great in the extremely comfortable beds. The kids slept in later than they do at home. When we finally got out the door we explored the stores then landed in the Treehouse Arcade for several hours. They have several game packages to choose from, plenty of games and lots of ways to win those tickets. Mine and Olyvia’s favorite games were Deal Or No Deal and Connect Four! I’m not a big video player like the rest of the family, but I found myself planted on those stools just like one of the kids.
We were going to hit the Mashantucket Pequot Museum, but time got away from us and we couldn’t make it in time before they closed. We’ll have to head there on our next trip. We had a great night planned though-we were headed to the High Rollers Luxury Luxury Lanes and Lounge.
High Rollers Luxury Lanes and Lounge is another huge highlight of our trip! It certainly isn’t like a bowling alley like I’ve ever seen! It was AMAZING! There were comfy loungers, TV’s EVERYWHERE!!! They even had big screen TV’s framed all along the back wall. Could you image Sunday football here? WOW!
We ordered a couple pizzas, some delicious buffalo chicken tenders on a stick and the most scrumptious lobster dip! If we could have stayed another night, we would have landed back here again, for sure. But we will be back sometime soon, right Honey! 🙂
Whether you go to Foxwoods as a family, as a couple or by yourself, you’ll feel how grand your surroundings are.
We could have easily stayed a couple more days with the family. There are other attractions near the resort for the family to experience. On Sunday we went into Mystic and went to the Mystic Aquarium-home of the Beluga Whales and Foxwoods Sea Lion live show. Next to the aquarium is the Olde Mistick Village. with over 60 shops. There’s also Mystic Seaport where you can board a whaling ship and explore America’s largest maritime museum.
