There was no question where Mr. Professor and I wanted to go for our 20th anniversary dinner-David Burke Prime, hands down. It’s one of those places that when you leave, you’ll already be planning your next visit.
The setting: Reds, browns and cowhide decorated seating. A beautiful central bar with an amazing wine tower standing tall behind it. An open display of a prep and completion dessert station. An exhibit of fresh raw seafood bar arranged to perfection.
The service: A feeling of welcome and glad you’re here, is the feeling we had from the second we crossed over into the restaurant. We were introduced to our waiter and waitress who were very familiar and knowledgeable with the menu. The service is impeccable.
The menu: From burgers to seafood towers to aged beef. You’re mouth will water, your eyes will be intrigued and your pallet satisfied with every divine bite.
From the warm popovers to the delicious desserts, and the complimentary cotton candy, you’ll understand why this spot is one of our favorite choices for a lunch and dinner!
What sets David Burke Prime apart from other steak houses, is their dry aging process. Not only did I take the tour to see how the process works, but I experienced the 65 day aged sirloin steak that melted in my mouth.
I rarely cook steak at home, it’s definitely not one of my cooking strong points, and I do consider myself a great cook. That being said, when I go out for dinner, I look at the steak menu first. I’m very particular with how I want my steak cooked and I was more than happy to say, it was cooked to perfection! The flavor of the steak was grilled to the correct temperature and color. The taste had a hint of blue cheese. The light spices added while being grilled, brought out the best flavor.
As much as I wanted to finish my meal, I had to take the leftovers home to keep room for my dessert.
Choices! Choices! Choices! How to choose with this extraordinary menu…….
Rely on recommendations! Beginning with your wine, let them know what flavors you like. Let them ask you questions. Their wine expert will undoubtedly pair you with greatness.
Appetizers: Know that the menu is not ordinary, it’s extraordinary. You won’t just be getting shrimp, for instance, you’ll be getting shrimp on steroids. You won’t be getting bacon, you’ll be getting Candied Bacon with smoky flavor, crispy edges, glazed with maple syrup. If you like salads, take it up a notch and order The Wedge or a Tableside Caesar Salad.
For your main course, there are many choices. Again, if going with beef, I’d strongly recommend listening to your server. As you look at the aged steaks, you will be looking at higher prices, of course too. You’ll want to make the right choice and they’ll help you.
I was intrigued with the Seafood Tower that rolled along past our table to a nearby couple. The display of food is an art that David Burke Prime has well achieved.
Whatever your choice, you’ll be delighted with your meal.
I can’t resist introducing you to The Executive Head Chef, Chef Pedro.
I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to have met and spoken with , Chef Pedro, the Executive Head Chef. I discovered that he worked side by side with David Burke for nearly two decades. He ran the start of of many other David Burke Prime Restaurants around the states. He takes pride in every cut of his meet and is the one who is hands on with the cutting, preparing and monitoring the aged beef.
I stood back after our meal and observed the staff hard at work with Chef Pedro by their side. The order, the organization, the structure, the precision, the prep and the delivery of the food from the kitchen to the many filled tables, was mind boggling to me as to how perfect the outcome was.
The restaurant is such a popular place for couples, friends and business get togethers, there’s never a lull time that I saw, and we were there on a Wednesday night. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like in there on a weekend or holiday. But the staff most certainly has it all down pat!
Prices and Specials…
David Burke Prime, is a fine dining restaurant with prices to go along with it. You can experience lunch here at a lower cost and still receive their melt in your mouth plates. I’ve yet been here for lunch, but when I do, I’m definitely choosing a burger. It’s ground fresh with several prime cuts of meat.
Do follow them on their Facebook page where you’ll be able to find specials such as their Restaurant Month Specials, holiday specials and more than enough food photos that will drive you to make your reservations!
David Burke Prime is open for lunch Monday through Saturday. They are open for dinner seven nights a week. We dined at the Foxwoods Resort Casino location. For other locations, make sure to head to the David Burke Prime website.
