I had a friend in Jr High, whose dad was in the Coast Guard and their family lived in a lighthouse when she was younger. I always thought that to be intriguing, and I wondered if there was a lighthouse that could be rented out for a getaway. Last spring my mom and I went to Saybrook Spa & Inn for Mother’s Day weekend together.
It’s a beautiful inn and one that will be a tradition for mom and I on Mother’s Day for years to come. One thing that got me very excited, was that I heard there was a lighthouse suite along the docks. It was occupied when we were there so I couldn’t take a peek in it, but I knew that I wanted to stay there for my 20th anniversary!
And we did……..
Twenty years of marriage, I believe is a big thing these days. Take it one step further, and being friends with your marriage partner is even something more to be proud of! I’m so thankful for my Mr Professor and I was so excited to tell him to pack his bags, we’re going away and staying in a lighthouse!
The Lighthouse Suite was beautiful, absolutely beautiful!
The colors, the furniture, the layout, the view…….
I love the town of Old Saybrook, CT. It’s a quaint old town with a lot of history, art and beauty. Of course there’s shopping from antique shops to your favorite stores. There are close by beaches, hide away parks and more. Most definitely, I could spend a full day out, but I wanted to go nowhere. I wanted to appreciate every moment and take in every view while I was here in this lighthouse at Saybrook Point Inn and Spa.
We did travel across the dock to their amazing restaurant, Fresh Salt, for appetizers, drinks and dinner. Their food is amazing and the presentation is like viewing art on canvas. Fresh Salt is open for the public as well. I’d suggest making a reservation as everytime we have been there, it’s been quite busy!
Everywhere we turned, we were saying, look at the view, or look at those boats, look at that yacht, look at the sky, look at the fish. It was a fisherman’s dream, let me tell you. Fish were jumping out of the water like they wanted to be caught. Next time Paul is going to bring his pole, for sure. Point is, we didn’t want to or need to go anywhere else.
The weather was amazing while we were here. The outdoor pool is open year round. With the high 80’s temperature in mid September, the pool was calling me to swim and catch some last sun rays and I surrendered obediently.
If I wasn’t already relaxed enough, heading to the SANNO Spa brought me there completely. I actually had a head cold on our getaway, but my massage therapist used some essential oils that cleared me up dramatically and made me feel so much better the rest of our stay.
Can’t I just go to the Saybrook Point Inn and Spa and someone throw out the key so I can never leave. Please!!!!!
I’m glad Mr Professor loved our stay as much as I did. He promised me we’d head back to the lighthouse suite sometime in the future and it didn’t have to be just for our 25th anniversary either. It’s something I will be looking forward to!
Several of my girlfriends and I are planning a trip together this winter to the Saybrook Inn. Many of us have birthdays close to each other and what another perfect way to celebrate.
Saybrook Inn and Spa has many packages to choose from. The inn is a home for weddings every weekend-wouldn’t that be a dream! They also host events during the year. An upcoming one is Pumpkins On the Point that looks like a great family day. They’ve hosted art shows, car shows and more.
I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoyed ours. You can book your reservations HERE.
