Have you ever had a family getaway to Foxwoods Resort Casino? We did over Thanksgiving weekend. We went swimming, bowling, played in the arcade, went Black Friday shopping. There was ice skating and Santa, beautiful decorations. It was amazing!!!!
So many people don’t know all that Foxwoods has to offer. I’ll be the first to say that I didn’t until last spring when my husband took me away for a getaway. As you can guess, I’m not a gambler—at all! I’d kick myself if I lost more than $20 and wouldn’t be able to sleep, LOL. Mr Professor is a great card player, so he kept his card time for when I was at the spa.
We go away every Thanksgiving and I thought it would be a blast to head there this year. The family loves going Black Friday shopping and with the Tanger Outlets there now, how perfect would that be!
We started our Thanksgiving at home with a nice breakfast and then ventured out, getting to test test drive the Chevy Suburban too! It’s probably the one time I wasn’t whining more than the kids on a road trip! On this trip, there was no whining, yay!
We stayed at Fox Tower Hotel. There are many hotels to stay at, but we’ve always stayed here. There are also many pools at Foxwoods, some for over 21 years old and some for families. So, hubby and the big boys watched football and I took the other kids off to the pool.
We all joined together at dinnertime at Juniors Restaurant. I love the atmosphere there, it’s bright, fun and welcomes you with giant cakes that are hard to resist even after you’re very full from your huge portioned meals!
After dinner, it was all about the shopping deals and there were many!!!!
I even treated myself to some of my favorite perfumes and I finally found the popular game Pie Face to call my own! The kids found crazy deals at Nike, Forever 21 and other favorites.
Because we were on vacation and it was Thanksgiving we got to break lots of rules including having giant ice cream shakes after midnight!
We had a full day planned on Friday and had to start with a good hearty breakfast to get us started. My mother-in-law had her favorite restaurant that we followed suit to for their breakfast buffet—Veranda Cafe has a large assortment for a breakfast buffet. I wouldn’t go anywhere else now for breakfast, that’s for sure!
Then, we were off to Mystic Aquarium, only 20 minutes away from Foxwoods. I could stay at the Beluga Whales all day. They’re enormous beauties that seem to be full of fun personality. Olyvia is smiling at the whale and it totally looks like the whale is smiling back in the photo, doesn’t it. The kids also loved the stingray pool. They were quite the active stingrays, one even splashed her, it was hilarious.
I was able to keep a big secret until we got here—we were having a Penguin Encounter! I have a bazillion photos from our 1-hour encounter with our penguin named Red Silver. What a one in a life time experience. I’ll fill you in on more of out trip later this week.
Now that you know that Foxwoods has more than just a casino, check out their website. They have super shows coming up, including Donny and Marie Osmond. The Legends are also playing though January 2nd! I really wanted to see Donny and Marie, but I have plans for my son’s birthday. Next year will be a must for sure! Typically, you can find amazing rates on their hotel rooms. It may be more challenging on a weekend especially with the Christmas season here, but it’s worth a try, for sure.
