HI! I’m so glad you stopped by, we certainly had a lot of info to share on our news segment. Here’s a recap for you with some links to go along with it.
As I mentioned, I’ve had a lot of requests from seniors and smaller families to list more tips on saving money, so here we go……..
Shop for new Medicare coverage and supplemental insurance: it can be a costly mistake to assume that last years Medicare coverage is still the best deal for you. Each year seniors receive a book in the mail that I often call “180 page of what did that just say?”
That being said, if you have an agent, get in touch with them to explain and to look into what would be the best choices for you.
If you don’t have an agent, my husband Paul is a manager/agent at Banker’s Life & Casualty and he can certainly steer you in the right direction! Feel free to call him directly at 603-341-5096.
The same goes for your prescription plans. Often times there are other prescriptions or places to get prescriptions that can cut your costs down. Again, your agent should be able to go over these things with you.
Find a hobby that makes you money
Retired? Enjoy midweek getaways for the best deals!
Flaunt your age and ask for those discounts! SeniorList.com has a large list of places that offer discounts, check it out.
More ways to save money:
Buy refurbished computers, iPads etc: I used to be hesitant when it comes to refurbished items until I found Grolen Computers in Manchester. We have had the best luck here. And since I’ve started going to them and telling other people about them, I’ve heard many others who have been going to them for years. I love companies with good reputations who can save me money!
GasBuddy.com: Use GasBuddy.com to show you the best gas prices in your area.
Grocery shop only once a week: I don’t think there’s an explanation needed here.
Pay bi-weekly on your mortgage: In doing so, it almost makes an extra payment a year because it cuts down on interest rates
Take advantage of consignment shopping: I find many deals for myself and family. Often times clothes still have original store tags on them. My latest deal was a pair of pants from Talbots, brand new with tags still on. for only $8!
