Kalorik Meat Slicer Review & Giveaway! $100 Value

Disclosure: ECP received this product in exchange for a review and one to give away to our readers, all opinions are our own…
kalorik

Oh, boy, next week starts the 180 days of making school lunches. Not thrilled with that statement quite honestly, but throughout the school year Extreme Coupon Professors will  help you along with some tips, some different lunch ideas and recipes! I’m very excited to share this information with you today as it will help you save money long term!

Kalorik sent me a meat slicer to review and share with you and so far it’s as good as I was hoping! My friend and I have been talking about how much everything is going up at the grocery store, you see it too, I’m sure. In our discussion we got on school lunches. I have to do more shopping during school having to pack lunches for 5 kiddos and we pack a lot of sandwiches-roast beef, turkey and ham mostly. At one store the roast beef was up to $14.99lb, the ham and turkey were in the range of $6.99-$10.99. How could I cut that down? Well, the meat slicer is definitely making that happen for me! The slicer costs about $100 and I’ve come close to saving that already by buying some roasts instead. I bought a boneless turkey breast and a turkey ham on sale and sliced my own deli meat!

DSCF0589

It’s a nice size slicer. It’s not overwhelming to have out on your counter when using it, and it fits comfortably on my shelf with some of my other used often kitchen products. There’s nothing much to the set up. Do be careful when cleaning the product for first time use and for cleaning. My finger barely brushed the blade and I was cut. Dumb on my part for being careless.

DSCF0590

Anyways, let’s get to the fun part! Will this slicer slice my meats like at the deli? Why yes, it did! It’s so easy to use. There’s a safety arm for you to slide the ham over the blade. The knob turns simply to set your desired thickness. My husband likes his ham for his sandwiches thin, I like mine a little thicker and we got what we wanted just be adjusting the knob. We sliced a couple pounds of ham for deli meat and changed the thickness to make some ham slices for egg sandwiches and some a little thicker to have as a meal with a baked potato and corn on the cob.

DSCF0592

I was at Sam’s the other day and talked to the butcher about some other meats. Looking at the different roasts, he pointed out the roast beef that he would use for making sandwiches. It was a huge roast but he would cut it  into more convenient roast sizes to be more manageable for me to freeze and use when ready. He said they would make delicious roast beef sandwiches and we got the price down to around $6lb.! He’s been a butcher for over 35 years so I”m thinking he knows what he’s talking about. He said it was definitely a smart way of saving money!

The slicer isn’t limited to just meat slices. I enjoy making hearty homemade breads once school starts. It will be great using the slicer to slice the bread into uniform even slices. Breads have gone up in price a lot too. The bread I wanted the other day was $4.69, I just couldn’t pay that price and went to the not good for you store brand bread at $1.49.  Use the slicer on veggies and fruit, we cored an apple and sliced it on our slicer too.

This is definitely one item I”m proud to have. Just sharing this and showing a few of my friends, they thought the same and bought one for themselves too. The Kalorik Meat Slicer is saving me money and is allowing me to have better quality food for my family.

Let’s enjoy some summer August fun, with a giveaway to Jean’s Playhouse Theatre. Jean’s Playhouse has graciously offered 4 tickets as a giveaway to one of our readers. These tickets will be good through the 2014 season.

I’ve put the giveaway together through Rafflecopter and will draw a name August 13th. Once a winner has been contacted they will have 48 hours to claim their prize and in return, I will forward the winner’s information to the box office.
